1.   You are the first HR Director of a small but growing Crude Palm Oil company. The company does not have job descriptions. You mention to the executive director that one of your first projects is to begin a job analysis project so that you can obtain data to write job descriptions and job specifications. The executive director is not familiar with job analysis and asks you to brief him on the process. Help the executive director to do the job analysis project in your company?

1.   You are the HR Director of a small not-for-profit social service organization that has just received its first notification and request for information ever from labor union that a complaint of illegal discrimination has been received. The President of the organization is unfamiliar with the process and asks you to brief her on how the process proceeds. What do you tell her?

2.   You are the VP of HR for an organization that is increasingly being affected by foreign competitors that have substantially lower compensation costs. The CEO is contemplating a recommendation to the board of directors that the organization explore a strategy of using contingent versus permanent full-time workers. He has asked you to brief him on what the advantages and disadvantages of such a strategy might be. How do you respond?

3.   You are the HR Director of a medium-sized manufacturing firm that has recently refused accommodation to several individuals based on a determination that they were not disabled. This resulted in formal complaints under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The board of directors was briefed by the CEO on the complaints and the directors would like you to brief them on the definition of disability under the act. What do you tell them?

4.   The CEO of your organization just came back from a meeting in which the terms quid pro quo and hostile environment were used in a discussion regarding preventing sexual harassment. He asks you to define them for him. How would you define the two terms?

5.   Jane has been working at a store for three years now.  She has worked her way up from the $4.25/hour that was in effect when she started to $5.50.  The government decides to raise the minimum wage to $5.15 per hour.  Now, they hire John at the current minimum wage. So, Jane is making $5.50/hour after having been there for three years.  John hasn't even gone through training and he is making $5.15/hour.  Jane feels like she is underappreciated because she is making only 35 cents and hour more than John. Should the company raise everyone's pay by the 90 cents/hour to keep everyone motivated? 

6.   Internet recruiting has been applied by many companies in Indonesia but based on the survey conducted by CareerXroads 2006 Sources of Hire Study has shown that most job seekers are still stick with newspaper ads to look for jobs.  What makes people tend to use newspaper to look for jobs? Explain it?

7.   Have you ever heard the phrase, "If you think training is expensive, try not training."? Many company does it, the problem is that too many companies cut back on training to save cost, do you agree or not with this statement? State your reason!

8.   This lately, we are shocked with the news that “Jamsostek” involved in abusing the members’ fund. So what do you think Jamsostek, Labour, and government so do in order such thing will never happen in the future?

9.   Should Corporate Social responsibility be done by every company? Is it ok for a company not to do CSR (corporate Social responsibility)? State your reason!

10.  The salary gap triggers high employee turnover rate. Do you agree with this statement? State the reason!

11.  International Labor Day in Jakarta, The labors demanded to erase outsourcing and contract/hiring system. Do you agree or not? State your reason!

12.  Machine has been used to replace human resource in company. What do you think of it? Can machine replace human? Why?
